Crystal Palace would be Conor Gallagher’s ‘preference’ if he were to leave Chelsea for another club this month, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The England international spent last season out on loan at Selhurst Park and absolutely flourished during his time working under Patrick Vieira, but having returned to Stamford Bridge, has failed to discover the same kind of form.

Eagles chairman Steve Parish has previously admitted that he would love to re-sign the midfielder on a permanent basis, and it sounds like the 22-year-old would also jump at the chance to return should the opportunity arise.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Phillips claimed that Gallagher wouldn’t even have to think twice about making Palace his next home if he was to leave Chelsea, with the club sharing the exact same standpoint.

“Crystal Palace would take him back in a heartbeat; I’m told that.

“And if Gallagher accepted defeat in his Chelsea career, Palace would absolutely be his preference. So, something could happen with that one, I really do feel that.”

TIF thoughts on Gallagher to Palace…

Gallagher’s contract isn’t set to expire until 2025, but Palace splashing the cash would be absolutely worth it if it meant he could return to SE25 for good.

The Epsom-born talent netted eight goals and provided five assists during his loan spell and quite clearly changed the performance levels of the team for the better (Transfermarkt).

Gallagher became a fan favourite and so it would be a massive coup if the Eagles could successfully secure his long-term services before the end of the window.
