Crystal Palace have reportedly joined the race to land a transfer deal for Bristol City attacker Antoine Semenyo according to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas.

With 124 appearances for the Championship club to his name, the 23-year-old has scored 20 goals and delivered 22 assists along the way.

As things stand, the striker is set to become a free agent at the end of the season with his contract set to expire in the summer, which has led to numerous clubs swirling around him.

In a recent Twitter post, Thomas said this on the situation.

He said: “CrystalPalace and Southampton have joined the race for Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo. Bournemouth have also been bidding. Burnley want him too but preferably in summer.”

Where did Crystal Palace sign these players from, let's start with an easy one! Osdonne Edouard

This season has seen the Ghanaian find the net seven times and provided two assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.

In addition to that, the attacker has the second-highest average of shots per game (1.7) and dribbles per game (1) at the Bristol club, further highlighting how much of a tricky player he is to defend against.

In fact, Nigel Pearson previously had this to say about the player and his attacking presence on the pitch.

He said: “He is a real threat with his power and pace – he must be a nightmare to play against.”

Taking into account how only five clubs have registered fewer shots at goal in the Premier League this season than Palace (216), it’s understandable why they have reportedly put themselves in the mix to sign Semenyo given his clear attacking prowess.

Moving forward, if this current January window will be City’s final chance of cashing in on the striker before he potentially leaves as a free agent in the summer, this could be Palace’s ideal time to sign him.

Also, the prospect of joining a Premier League club that are currently not in danger of being involved in a relegation battle and playing for a manager like Patrick Vieira would surely make a move to Selhurst Park an exciting next step for Semenyo.
