Chelsea have placed Moises Caicedo ‘on the list’ of transfer targets at Stamford Bridge this month, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have made it clear that they want to strengthen a number of areas this month, being linked with moves for the likes of Marcus Thuram, Pedro Porro and Enzo Fernandez.

However, any prospective deal for the latter appears to have fallen through after the west London club failed to reach an agreement with Benfica, and Graham Potter now seems to have turned his attentions elsewhere, with Caicedo in his sights.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano claimed that a deal for the Ecuadorian may be tough to orchestrate, but the Brighton star is being considered by Chelsea.

The transfer guru stated of Caicedo: “We know how tough it is to negotiate with Brighton in general, especially in January with a new coach like De Zerbi who wants to keep all the players. It’s not an easy one, but it’s true that he’s one of the players on the list for Chelsea.”

TIF thoughts on Caicedo to Chelsea…
It has been reported that a deal for the 21-year-old could cost any potential suitor up to £70m, given that Brighton are under no pressure to sell him as he is still under contract until 2025.
As such, it is a deal that Chelsea must get right, but there is every indication that Caicedo could develop into a player befitting that value after the very promising signs that he has exhibited in a Brighton shirt in recent times.
Lauded as a ‘machine‘ by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, the starlet impressed on the front foot by weighing in with an assist in the recent 4-1 victory at Everton. His defensive qualities were then on show against Liverpool on Saturday as he made three tackles, the joint-second most of any player in his team’s 3-0 win.
Even though an outlay of £70m would be expensive, it is still far cheaper than paying the £105m release clause for Fernandez, and Caicedo has already proven himself in the Premier League, featuring in the top five players in WhoScored‘s performance rankings of Brighton’s squad in 2022/23.
