Chelsea are set to ‘proceed’ with a deal to bring Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram to the Premier League, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

The Frenchman’s contract in the Bundesliga is set to expire at the end of the season, and having not yet put pen to paper on fresh terms, he could be available on a cut-price deal this month.

The Blues have reportedly held talks with the 25-year-old’s representatives regarding a potential transfer, and whilst the player is keen to assess his options before choosing his next destination, Graham Potter and his team are ready to go all out to secure his services.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano revealed that Chelsea are now looking to wrap up a deal for Thuram and have been in discussions with his associates to try and increase their chances of landing him before the end of the window.

“I think it’s possible for Chelsea to move for one more striker.

“After closing the Felix deal, they have been in contact with people close to Marcus Thuram. They’ve now changed their stance and will proceed for the player.”

TIF thoughts on Thuram…

The Blues have recently signed Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on loan for the remainder of the season, and Thuram could be the next to follow in his footsteps and make the move to Stamford Bridge.

The Gladbach frontman has been prolific in the final third this term, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in just 17 appearances across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Thuram has also been hailed a ‘phenomenon’ by scout Jacek Kulig, so the hierarchy completing a deal to sign him is definitely a no-brainer of a decision to make.
