Arsenal are reportedly considering making a late transfer move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The Gunners have recently been after Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo but have reportedly had two bids for him rejected by the south coast club.

With just a day left before the January transfer window closes, the north London club have now set their sights on signing another Premier League midfielder.

According to a recent report from 90min, Arsenal are considering a late bit to test Leicester resolve to keep hold of Tielemans, who is set to see his contract at the club expire in the summer.

The report also adds that the Belgian would be open to a move late in the window, but it would take a significant bid to take him away from the Midlands club.

Tielemans joined Leicester on an initial loan deal in the 2019 January transfer window before moving there permanently in the following summer in a deal worth a reported fee of £40m.

During his time with the Foxes, the 25-year-old has made 184 appearances across all competitions, scoring 28 goals and delivering 25 assists along the way.

This season has seen the midfielder show how much of an impressive player he is and what he’d be able to offer Mikel Arteta’s side.

For example, with 19 league appearances under his belt, Tielemans is in the top five for the average of tackles (2.2), shots (1.2), key passes (1.2) and dribbles (0.6) per game at Leicester.

Hailed as a “superb” player by Gary Lineker, the Leicester star would certainly be a strong signing for Arsenal if they end up convincing the club to sell him before the end of the month.

However, if he’s able to join as a free agent, it could be a better option for the Gunners from a financial point of view if they wait until the summer to make a move for him as a potential alternative to Caicedo.
