Arsenal have been dealt another potential transfer setback to their hopes of securing a deal for Barcelona winger Raphinha.

The Gunners have recently been linked with a move for the Brazilian after missing out on a deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk

The north London club were in the mix to sign Raphinha during the summer before he made his move to Barcelona from Leeds United in a deal worth £55m.

However, Arsenal could now find themselves disappointed once again in regard to their hopes of bringing the winger back to England.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Raphinha’s representatives ruled out the possibility of seeing the winger leave Barcelona this month amid Arsenal’s recent interest.

During his time at Leeds, the 26-year-old scored 17 goals and delivered 12 assists in 67 appearances across all competitions.

Since joining Barcelona, Raphinha has found the net three times and supplied five assists in 23 appearances.

He also recently got his hands on his first bit of silverware for Xavi’s side as they beat Real Madrid 3-1 in the Spanish Super Cup final.

With 15 La Liga appearances under his belt, the former Leeds star has completed more passes into the 18-yard box (28) than any of his teammates, as well as having the highest rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (6.66) out of any player currently at the club.

Taking into account how the Gunners missed out on signing Mudryk, it’s understandable why they may have thought about revisiting a potential deal for Raphinha.

However, it seems that this will also be something that doesn’t end up happening for Arsenal this month.

Moving forward, with still some time left before the transfer window closes, the Gunners will have to work quickly if they want to bring in a suitable attacking player to help them strengthen Mikel Arteta’s side.
