Tottenham Hotspur are optimistic that Harry Kane will put pen to paper on a new and improved deal in north London.

This is according to the transfer guru Ben Jacobs, who has been discussing the future of the England captain on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel.

Kane has now made his return to Hotspur Way following his disappointing end to the Qatar World Cup with the Premier League restarting on Monday.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

And his future will remain a topic of discussion with the Lilywhites believed to be aiming to tie him down to an extended deal with his current contract expected to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Despite his latest efforts at clinching that elusive silverware fading away in Qatar, Jacobs has claimed there is still optimism in N17 that Spurs will be able to tie Kane down:

“So personally talking to sources and we know that Tottenham sources will have to speak optimistically. So as a journalist, you have to take these with a pinch of salt, but sources I speak to at Spurs are very calm about the situation they don’t believe there’s that much in the Bayern links other than leverage, and they do believe that Harry Kane will sign a new deal. So that’s all very positive.”

TIF Thoughts on Jacobs’ comments…

This will certainly please a lot of Spurs fans who may have had their concerns about Kane following his heartbreaking end to the World Cup just the other week.

Do you expect Kane to sign a new deal at Spurs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Kane is still yet to lift any silverware and after the World Cup evaded his grasp, there could certainly have been a notion that he may now consider a move away from Spurs in search of that trophy.

However, it seems – according to Jacobs’ comments – as if he is fully bought into the project at Spurs with Antonio Conte at the helm given there have been signs of improvement under the Italian.

But with Conte’s contract situation still ongoing too, it will be interesting to see what happens if there is a change of heart from either and how that may affect the other’s decision.
