Tottenham Hotspur have an eye on the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and have been monitoring him for some time now.

This is what journalist Ben Jacobs has suggested when speaking on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel ahead of the January transfer window.

Mac Allister has now been playing his football on the south coast for a number of years now with a handful of loan deals mixed in since signing from Argentinos Jrs back in 2019.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

However, he has hit the headlines over the last month following his sensational World Cup journey with Argentina which saw him get his hands on the trophy and Fabrizio Romano values him at over €65m (£57m).

And Jacobs has claimed Spurs to be one of the clubs who have kept an eye on Mac Allister for a while now with the 23-year-old also impressing in the Premier League for the Seagulls:

“Tottenham like the player, they actually scouted him back in January. So it’s a bit more long-standing than people realise, but he’s contracted until 2025. Brighton have also the option to extend for a year.”

TIF Thoughts on Jacobs’ comments…

It has been quite a few weeks for Mac Allister who was by no means a spare part in the World Cup-winning side given he started six out of the seven games and provided a goal and assist (via Transfermarkt).

Would Mac Allister improve Spurs' XI?

The 23-year-old went into the Qatar tournament on the back of some fine form for Brighton with five Premier League goals already this season in his 14 appearances.

Hailed as “world-class” by Brighton reporter Andy Naylor, Mac Allister still has over two years remaining on his deal at the Amex Stadium.

However, if Spurs had Champions League football on offer and a potential link-up with his fellow Argentine, Cristian Romero, perhaps this is a deal which would interest the 23-year-old.
