And it is now just a matter of weeks until Dan Ashworth can work his magic in the transfer window to provide Howe with the best opportunity to seal Newcastle a spot in Europe.

But Ryder has suggested Newcastle will see a lot of movement next month with players expected to depart before replacements will be brought in:

“There will be probably players leaving in this window and once they’ve gone then they’ll probably look at potential replacements. But I do see a lot of movement.”

It feels as if Newcastle have a huge opportunity on their hands this season to clinch a spot in next season’s Champions League as they currently sit just seven points off the league leaders.

However, there is still a lot of football to be played this season and with Newcastle’s injury record from this season showing there are issues for Howe to consider, it will be intriguing to see who they look to bring in over January.
