Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has been ripped into following his Boxing Day display against Brentford.

Guardian journalist Rob Davies took to Twitter to slam the Mali midfielder during the first half as the Lilywhites went into the break a goal behind.

German ace Vitaly Janelt provided Thomas Frank’s side with the lead early on in the game after converting after a deflected effort was saved by stand-in goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

Bissouma was one of the players who had the full World Cup break to work under Antonio Conte given Mali did not qualify for the tournament.

However, as he proved guilty of losing the ball in the build-up to Ivan Toney’s disallowed goal in the first half, Davies tore into the 26-year-old’s dismal showing:

“That, from Bissouma, is among the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen a footballer do,” he tweeted.

TIF Thoughts on Davies’ comments…

It has been a tricky start to life in north London for Bissouma, who made the move from Brighton & Hove Albion over the summer.

Has Bissouma been a big disappointment?

Having picked up a yellow card, lost possession nine times and played his part in the nervous moments leading to Toney’s disallowed goal, it is not surprising to hear Davies’ criticism of the 26-year-old (via SofaScore).

Although Bissouma has now racked up 15 appearances in the Premier League, only seven of them have come in the starting XI under Conte.

And with Rodrigo Bentancur back from suspension for the next game, it’ll be interesting to see if he starts against Aston Villa.
