Rangers loanee Malik Tillman could stay at the club permanently, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The American winger has been impressive since he joined from Bayern Munich, providing four goals and five assists in 24 games this season, and he could remain at Ibrox following his loan spell.

The 20-year-old arrived in the summer with an option to buy in his loan deal, and given his good form, will likely be kept on by new manager Michael Beale.

Beale arrived following the dismissal of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who initially brought the player in, but Tillman played a starring role in Beale’s first game in charge, providing two assists as Rangers beat Hibernian 3-2.

Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, O’Rourke claimed that Rangers are open to keeping him on, given that he has been one of the standout players this season.

“Obviously he arrived at Rangers from Bayern Munich, I think with an option to sign on a permanent basis, so I’m sure it’s something that Rangers would be open to taking up as well,” O’Rourke stated.

“Tillman has been one of Rangers’ better performers this season as well, he’s scored goals, he’s created goals as well.”

TIF thoughts on Tillman…

The club should definitely do all they can to keep Tillman. At 20 years of age, he has a bright future and has settled quickly at Ibrox.

The American has looked bright and energetic and has been the difference-maker despite his side’s struggles at times this season.

Rangers crashed out of the Champions League group stage in a disastrous fashion, whilst they remain six points off Celtic, who have a game in hand.

Beale should build his team around young stars like Tillman, who if he reaches his potential, could attract a large fee further down the line.
