Journalist, Pete O’Rourke has given his verdict on the future of Rangers loan star Malik Tillman.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke said that the Scottish side ‘have the advantage’ over rival clubs for the player’s services. This is due to the fact Tillman has a buy option in his loan deal from Bayern Munich.

Despite being only 20-years-old, the midfielder has a lot of experience featuring in the Champions League, the Scottish Premiership and the Bundesliga.

Tillman tends to operate as an attacking midfielder, but when needed he can play as either a striker or in a slightly deeper central-midfielder role.

O’Rourke stated, “I’m sure they would like to sign him on a long-term basis. It all depends if other clubs are looking at his situation. There might be rival interest in him, but I think Rangers do have the advantage, having that buy option in his initial loan deal from Bayern Munich.”

TIF’s view on O’Rourke’s comments…

We believe that Rangers should look to activate their buy option and sign Tillman permanently at the end of the season.

He’s proven to be a strong attacking outlet for the Scottish side. The 20-year-old has seven goal contributions from 14 league appearances.

At such a young age, the American will only continue to grow and develop, meaning he could be a top-quality player in the future. He’s already been given the call-up by the USMNT, picking up four caps for his nation. Interestingly, Tillman actually played for Germany’s youth side at national level, featuring for the under-21s and the under-20s.

With the Scottish Premiership back underway, the midfielder has already proven that he could be a key player for Rangers this season, Tillman picked up two assists against Hibernian, Rangers would win 3-2 at Ibrox after being 2-1 down.

Rangers are looking to put pressure on league leaders, Celtic. The Gers are six points behind them, but the Hoops have a game in hand.
