Pundit Tam McManus believes that just one of Alfredo Morelos or Ryan Kent will extend their stay at Rangers when their contracts expire.

The former SPFL striker was speaking amid comments from new Gers boss Michael Beale, who said that he would ‘ideally’ like to plan for the future with both players at Ibrox.

He said in an interview with Sky Sports that he feels the duo are open to remaining at the club, though their futures are far from resolved.

His thoughts came prior to sporting director Ross Wilson’s claim that the two situations are ‘very, very different’, seemingly contradicting what his manager had claimed.

Speaking on the PLZ Soccer YouTube channel, McManus said: “I think there’s some comments coming out from Ross Wilson and Michael Beale that it’s two totally different cases.

“It seems to me, reading between the lines, that one’s wanting to stay – I don’t know which one, Kent or Morelos – and one wants to leave. They’re obviously having different discussions with both players, but it was interesting that Michael Beale came out the other day and said that.

“I think that maybe one of them will stay and sign a new deal and one of them will leave.”

TIF Thoughts on Kent and Morelos…

Would you want Beale at Rangers?

Yes

Yes

No!

No!

If the Light Blues are only able to hang on to one of their star men, we feel they should focus on Kent – and he could well be the man willing to stay.

While talking to Sky last week, Beale discussed the close relationship he has with the 26-year-old, who he has known for over a decade as well as his family.

The former Liverpool academy star’s form may have dipped this term, but under Steven Gerrard (while Beale was part of the backroom team), the winger managed 28 goals and 33 assists in 138 appearances.

Meanwhile, Morelos has looked out of shape and had disciplinary issues once again this term, leaving us to conclude that the Glasgow giants would be as well to cut all ties with the Colombian frontman.
