According to journalist Dean Jones, Rangers have assured new manager Michael Beale that he will have money to spend in the January transfer window.

The 42-year-old joined Rangers earlier this week after replacing Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who had seen the Gers fall nine points behind in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Beale had previously worked at Ibrox as assistant manager under Steven Gerrard as they secured the club’s first SPFL title since returning to the top flight.

The Englishman previously turned down Wolverhampton Wanderers in October, but having now left Queens Park Rangers, Jones has stated he will be given every chance to claw back Celtic’s title lead when speaking to GiveMeSport.

He said: “Part of it is that Rangers have spelled out a promising future plan for him. He knows he’s going to be able to shape the first team and he will be able to have a big say on how the club is run, too.

“I think they really see him as a big figurehead here and that is something that’s really exciting. The promise of funds in January comes as part of the package.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

It’s incredible faith shown by Rangers to the young coach, who only took on his first managerial job in the summer after breaking away from Gerrard’s setup.

He began brilliantly at QPR and leaves them currently seventh in the table, only five points behind third-placed Blackburn Rovers without spending a penny in the summer window.

Beale will certainly welcome the backing at Ibrox, with him set to have the chance to add to the €14.20m (£12.29m) Rangers previously spent in the summer.

The jury is still out on the 42-year-old, with eager eyes waiting to see how he starts against Hibernian on 15th December, with Gers legend Ally McCoist questioning whether they should’ve hired someone with more experience.
