The Celtic Way writer Tony Haggerty has admitted he’s ‘intrigued’ to see how Ange Postecgolou treats Giorgos Giakoumakis amid questions surrounding his future.
Earlier this month it was reported that the Greek striker was set for a ‘shock’ exit from the Hoops.
The source suggested that the Parkhead outfit had failed to reach an agreement with Giakoumakis over an improved contract.
It also claimed that although talks were ongoing to resolve the issue that a compromise may only be reached should there be a drastic switch of mentality on either side.
The 28-year-old only signed last summer but is said to have lowered initial demands with the guarantee that he would receive a pay hike should he impress in his first season.
He scored 17 goals despite starting just 15 times for the Glasgow outfit in the last campaign but Haggerty is interested to see how Ange handles the situation.
Speaking on The Celtic Way he said: (13:05) “I’m intrigued to see if Giorgos Giakoumakis plays as well. Lots of managers think speculation gets to players’ heads and maybe rest him. Other managers play through it.
“If you’re playing, if you hit a dip in form some managers prefer you to play through it other managers prefer to take you from the side.
“I don’t know if Ange would be a ‘play through this’ kind of speculation stuff.”

Do you think Celtic should go all out for Giakoumakis?YesNo |
Giakoumakis has largely been used as the backup to Kyogo Furuhashi anyway but it will certainly be interesting to see how effective he is off the bench with his future in doubt.
The burly centre-forward has scored 25 goals despite just starting 22 games and has proved a real threat from the bench for Postecoglou’s side.
Averaging a goal every 95 minutes it highlights the efficiency he brings to the team but it will be interesting to see as Haggerty suggests if he carries the same threat when the season resumes.
