Former footballer Paul Robinson has claimed that Sean Dyche would be a perfect replacement for Ange Postecoglou at Celtic if the Australian is snapped by a Premier Leauge club south of the border.

Postecoglou’s future at Celtic is a source of continued speculation with the Australian catching the eye of Premier League sides due to his great work in charge of the Bhoys.

Since joining in the summer of 2021, Postecoglou led Celtic back to the summit of the SPFL as they comfortably won the title back off old firm rivals Rangers in his first campaign, they currently sit nine points clear at the top of the table after dropping only three points all season.

Previously touted with the Everton job back in November by Noel Whelan, the 57-year-old announced his desire to stay in Glasgow amid the rumours of an impending move.

However, concerns over his future will surely arise again next year, with Sky Sports pundit Robinson telling Football Insider that Dyche would be one of the top candidates for his replacement.

“It would have been a huge opportunity for Sean.

“It is only a matter of time before Postecoglou leaves for a Premier League job. There will be opportunities for him to go south of the border over the next 12 months and he might take it.

“Sean will have a lot of offers from a lot of clubs coming in this season but a Rangers or a Celtic would be perfect for him,” Robinson said.

TIF Thoughts on Robinson’s comments…

Dyche is yet to return to management after he was sacked by Burnley in April this year as the club finally succumbed to the Premier League drop, the 51-year-old had been in charge since 2012 at Turf Moor and oversaw 425 games for the Clarets.

It seems that his almost ten-year spell in Lancashire is the reason he hasn’t returned back to management yet with him unsurprisingly taking a break from the continued pressure of the top flight.

However, he almost returned at Rangers before Michael Beale was announced with Ally McCoist previously stating his surprise at Dyche not getting the job, but it’s the other half of Glasgow he’s tipped for with all eyes on what the future has in store for both Postecoglou and the Englishman.
