Journalist Liam Kean has suggested that there is still a possibility Adama Traore will commit his future to Wolves.

Traore has come back into the fold at Molineux this season and started six of the eight Premier League games immediately prior to the World Cup break.

It comes after the Spaniard spent the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona and after an underwhelming spell in Catalonia they chose against exercising their £29m option to buy.

The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season but Kean has now suggested that he could well extend his stay in the Midlands.

Speaking on the Express and Star Wolves podcast he said:(1:08:56)“It’s very much a wait and see scenario, but the attitude has changed slightly in that look he’s happy. Lopetegui likes him.

“There is definitely a possibility. I wouldn’t rule it out that he could sign a new contract, which is definitely a small shift from a definite no, that we had previously. So there is a small shift there that it’s not impossible, he wouldn’t rule it out but equally he can speak to clubs in January.

“We don’t know, really, money-wise, whether Wolves would be prepared to offer him what they had offered him before, which was a big deal, or whether he might get more elsewhere.
“It depends what kind of clubs are interested in, what sort of level he’s looking at so there’s a lot of ifs and buts but it’s definitely not impossible that he could sign a deal.

“It depends on how the next few weeks and months go.”

TIF Thoughts on Traore and Wolves…

Is Traore's time at Wolves done?

Having found himself out of favour under Bruno Lage playing just over 50 minutes in the first seven games of the season it seemed as if the £46k-per-week had no future at the club.

However, after being reintroduced by Steve Davis, Traore could now well be an option for Julen Lopetegui.

He has only managed to score eight goals and provide 16 assists in 167 Premier League matches but his new coach could be the man to finally get the best out of a ‘very special’ player – as labelled by former coach Nuno Espirito Santo – and it will be interesting to see where his future lies.
