Wolves star Daniel Podence is not expected to be absent for their next Premier League fixture, according to injury expert Ben Dinnery.

The winger was forced off the pitch in his side’s dramatic last-minute victory on Boxing Day and has been considered a doubt – but these fears have been alleviated by Dinnery.

The 27-year-old has scored three times in 16 league games this season, including the opener in their 2-1 victory over Everton, and will be hoping to impress Julen Lopetegui in order to keep his starting position.

Wolves jumped up to 18th place in the table following their huge victory and will be hoping to build momentum, and they will go into the next game relieved that they have not suffered yet another key injury this season.

SpeakingĀ on the FPL Injuries Youtube channel, Dinnery said: “Daniel Podence was forced off around the 73rd minute. Fortunately, it doesn’t look as if it’s anything too serious, just a knock, he should be fine.”

TIF Thoughts on Podence and Wolves…

Providing that he is fit for the squad, we expect Podence to keep his place in the starting lineup as Wolves face a tough test against Manchester United.

New signing Matheus Cunha is not yet eligible to join the squad, but it remains to be seen whether Lopetegui will continue with Diego Costa who started the previous match or rotate him out for one of his other attacking options.

Lopetegui also has the option of potentially replacing Podence with Goncalo Guedes, but given that he scored against Everton, we think Podence will likely continue in the side and try to build on this momentum as Wolves seek to escape the relegation zone.
