West Ham United will be looking to bring in a new striker in the January transfer window amid concerns over their start to the campaign.

This has been suggested by journalist Scott Saunders, who has been speaking on the latest Talking Transfers podcast ahead of the January window.

It has been a dreadful start to the campaign for David Moyes’ side, who entered the World Cup break as they sit slumped in 16th spot.

And one of the problem areas this season has been their ability to convert in front of goal, with only two other sides in the league scoring fewer than West Ham’s 12 goals this season.

With just one point separating West Ham from the drop zone and four points to the bottom of the table, Saunders believes the Irons are looking to bring in more quality up top.

He said: “We understand that West Ham are looking for a striker. No names tied to that as yet, but more firepower, perhaps to get the best out of Scamacca and Paqueta.”

West Ham’s attacking options have certainly been a massive concern in the early stages of the 2022/23 campaign, with their top scorers only racking up four goals.

And the struggles experienced by Gianluca Scamacca to hit the ground running in the Premier League have been somewhat overshadowed by the likes of Jarrod Bowen being unable to discover the form he showed last season.

With the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers already seemingly looking to strengthen their options ahead of January, we think it is absolutely crucial West Ham do the same to pull themselves out of this relegation scare.
