Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that the West Ham United board are still going to back David Moyes for the time being as pressure mounts over his job.
Before the World Cup, the Hammers were struggling for form and there was talk that the club’s manager could be in trouble, but the 59-year-old was given the break to try and figure out how to fix things.
However, upon the return of the Premier League, things didn’t exactly look much improved for West Ham. Indeed, they were comfortably beaten 3-1 away from home by Arsenal.
Unsurprisingly, there are those that will have their doubts about Moyes’ suitability to turn things around at the club. Still, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex stated that his source expects the manager to be given at least until the end of January to prove himself.
He said: “Without being too obvious who the source is, it’s someone that would be involved within the decision of whether David Moyes is going to be the manager or not.
He then explained what he had asked: “‘I assume it’s still fair to say he is backed for the time being, maybe until the end of January?’ That’s what I put.
“And I quite simply got the answer back: ‘Yes.’”

As a consequence of that defeat by the Gunners, West Ham now find themselves just a point above the relegation zone. While this is disappointing, Arsenal are top of the league, so it’s maybe not quite fair to judge Moyes on this one loss away from home to an impressive team.
And that certainly seems to be the opinion of Ex’s source. Indeed, it looks as though it will be their performances in the games over the next month that will come to define Moyes’ future.
Coming up for the Hammers in the Premier League are the likes of Brentford, Leeds United, Wolves, and Everton before the January window comes to an end. We think it seems likely that if Moyes fails to see his team improve their form in those matches, he’ll be out of a job.
