Presenter ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United will make just ‘one more attempt’ to commit Declan Rice to a new contract.
Sadly for the Hammers, it looks as though their key man may well be off in the summer. Indeed, the club captain even admitted to the press recently that he has big ambitions to play for a Champions League side one day.
On top of that, Fabrizio Romano has explained that the player is excepted to leave West Ham in 2023. Even so, it seems as if the Premier League outfit aren’t ready to give up on him just yet.
Indeed, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex explained that they want to put one more offer on the table for Rice – a deal so big, that it would make him the ‘highest-paid player’ in their history.
He said: “In terms of Declan, apparently, we will make one more attempt to get him to sign a contract. This has come from the top.
“It’s unlikely that he’ll sign it, but the club will try one more time to try and get him to sign. He would be the highest-paid player at the club by a significant distance and in our history.
“However, as I’ve stated numerous times on this podcast for the last year or so, it isn’t about money; it’s about ambition and winning things. So I honestly think we can offer him £1m a week and he wouldn’t be tempted.”
