Alasdair Gold believes that Antonio Conte wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign a proven attacker next month.
Spurs certainly kept their end of the bargain during the summer by backing Conte in the transfer market as they welcomed eight new players, splashing out more than £150m in the process including their big-money deals for Cristian Romero and Richarlison.
However, Conte is still seemingly not happy, as he’s recently claimed that he needs several more transfer windows before he can get Spurs clicking and competing for trophies, so he will be hopeful of new additions in January.
Gold has revealed on his YouTube channel that Conte would love to be given a proven attacker much like he was with Richarlison over the summer.
He said: “We know he wants a more readymade replacement. We know he loves Richarlison, because Richarlison can come straight in there you’re not probably going to drop your level, he is a ready-made player.

“What is he, 25, 26? He’s just gone to the World Cup and been a terrific No 9 there for Brazil – those are the kinds of players Conte loves, of course he does. Players he knows he can trust fully, doesn’t have to really tweak too much with, he can just put them out there, tell them what to do and they’ll go and do it.”

We think it will be very difficult for Spurs to attract a proven attacker in January, as it’s a tricky task to get into the Tottenham attacking lineup at present with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison already at the club.
Therefore, Spurs may well only be able to recruit someone that’s not of the same standard as the four mentioned above, or even go for a younger and unproven player, which may be something Conte is against considering he did not appear too keen on bringing in Djed Spence over the summer.
If Spurs want Conte to sign a new deal they are reportedly throwing at the Italian boss, they will need to bow to his demands and back him once again for a third transfer window running. This will be a huge test of Daniel Levy’s resolve and how much he wants this partnership to work, and it will be interesting to see what the next few weeks bring.
