Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make several signings next month.

Antonio Conte has recently spoken about how he wishes to make signings in January, but revealed that it has to be done in line with the club’s vision – which appears to be signing younger players with ‘accessible’ wages.

In other words, Daniel Levy is not overly keen on handing Conte a warchest next month to improve a squad that have won just one of their last four games, although they do indeed still occupy a spot inside the top four.

Gold, however, has claimed on his YouTube channel that Spurs are very much looking to be active in the coming weeks to hand Conte want he wishes.

He said: “In this situation, you have to sign at least a couple of players – and that is the plan, from what I’m told. But if they end up cutting corners and they are players that Conte’s not going to use, what’s the point?

Will Spurs be active in January?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“And I cannot keep going back to this point enough: don’t hire Antonio Conte if you don’t want to make your club fit him. He is not a manager who fits to a club; he is a manager who has a very set way of doing things and it would be foolish to hire a manager like that and then give him the old-style Tottenham Hotspur, because it will not work.”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ transfer plans…

Given how outspoken Conte was over the singing of Djed Spence and made it very clear that the defender was a ‘club’ signing, handing him younger players for the future once again may not go down too well.

Over the summer, Conte showed the kind of players he’s willing to sign for Spurs with ready-made stars who can perform immediately, as he brought in the likes of Ivan Perisic, Clement Lenglet and Richarlison – who all had plenty of prior top-level experience.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

If Spurs don’t hand Conte what he wants or at least don’t make a good go of it, we worry that the reported new contract Tottenham want him to sign could well be shunned as he won’t feel as if he has the backing required to do his job.
