Alasdair Gold has revealed that Antonio Conte has been left furious with how Tottenham Hotspur defended on Monday.

For the ninth game in a row, Tottenham found themselves going behind in the Premier League on Boxing Day as Conte’s side were left with a huge task on their hands.

However, as they do so often, Spurs found a way to show their character and quality by coming from 2-0 down to rescue what could turn out to be a valuable point, although Conte seemingly didn’t forget about the poor defensive showing from his players.

Gold has revealed on his YouTube channel that Conte has been fuming ever since the full-time whistle on Monday about the performances his defenders served up.

He said: “From what I understand, Conte was livid with the defending. He wasn’t afterwards, he was quite calm and measured afterwards. But behind the scenes, I understand he was pretty livid with it all.”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ defensive woes…

It’s certainly something Spurs need to be addressing heading into the new year, as they’ve currently conceded the most goals out of any side inside the top eight having shipped 23 goals in 16 games.

Both goals Spurs conceded on Monday were very poor, with the first one seeing several Tottenham players stand and watch as Vitaly Janelt ghost into the box to tap home into an empty net, while the second came from a sliced Eric Dier clearance before Clement Lenglet failed to track Ivan Toney’s run to the back post.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

Heading into the January transfer window, Conte may well be targeting a new defensive recruit given that he was somewhat forced into starting Japhet Tanganga for the first time this season, such are their defensive limitations at the minute.
