Tottenham Hotspur should move for Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie, according to Perry Groves.

The Ivorian midfielder has found himself starved of game time since moving to the Nou Camp in the summer, starting just two La Liga matches.

Although it seems that Barcelona want to keep Kessie until the end of the season at least, he has been linked with a move to North London and Spurs could look to strengthen their squad in January.

Speaking to TalkSport, Groves suggested that Kessie’s goal threat and physicality makes him an ideal fit for Antonio Conte’s side.

“He fits, you look at him, he scored a lot of goals from midfield for AC Milan,” he stated.

“He’s 6ft, to be fair. Antonio Conte likes big players, and when we’ve looked at Spurs before, most of their players are 6ft, 6ft-plus.

“He actually fits their remit perfectly, because they need a threat from midfield, they need a goalscoring threat from midfield and someone who likes to break forward.”

TIF Thoughts on Kessie and Spurs…

The midfielder scored 37 and assisted 16 in 223 games for AC Milan, so whilst he is not a prolific goalscorer, he can certainly chip in with a few.

Pierre-Emile Hojberg and Rodrigo Bentancur have been in good form this season, keeping Yves Bissouma out of the side, and Spurs have other priorities which need addressing in January before they sign a midfielder.

Nevertheless, if the 26-year-old was to become available in the summer, he could be a good signing to bolster the Spurs midfield, and Conte will be very familiar with the player from his Serie A days.
