Journalist Alasdair Gold has tipped Tottenham Hotspur to consider signing an attacking midfielder and a central defender in the January market.

While so much focus has been on the World Cup since the Premier League was put on pause for the winter tournament, those at Spurs will no doubt have used this time to consider options in the upcoming transfer window.

Indeed, domestic football will return for Tottenham shortly before the January market opens, and so it will be a great time to add some depth to the squad as Antonio Conte’s men aim for a strong second half of the season.

It seems likely that plenty of names will begin to pop up on the rumour mill soon enough, and it seems as though fans may be wise to look out for options who either can create in the middle of the park or defend deep.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold explained: “There’s lots of little tweaks they can make; an attacking midfielder, a central defender. I think all of those things are going to have to be looked at, and any other kind of opportunities that arise as well.”

Judging by those comments, it seems as though Tottenham may well be open to trying to pull off a number of different moves this winter depending on what players are available.

One player who has been linked with a possible switch to north London is Inter centre-back Stefan de Vrij. As per Football Insider, they will look to rival Atletico Madrid for his signature next month.

Meanwhile, as for an attacking midfielder, according to reports in Spanish media, Argentina World Cup star Alexis Mac Allister could move from Brighton & Hove Albion to Spurs this winter.

It certainly looks like there is plenty to keep an eye out for.
