Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are often linked with a move for James Maddison as they work with the same agency the England midfielder is part of.
With Premier League football set to return soon and the January transfer window nearing, the English midfielder’s future seems very much up in the air.
Indeed, Maddison has been tipped to make a possible move to Tottenham this winter, and it seems as though there could be one key reason behind all the talk.
While speaking on his own YouTube channel, Gold explained that transfer target Pedro Porro was part of the CAA Base agency – which supposedly often deals with Spurs – so that would explain why Maddison is often tipped with a move to north London.
He said: “I think Pedro Porro is CAA Base, I think it is.
“Base are a very connected agency with Spurs, do a lot of stuff with Spurs.
“I think they’re Maddison as well, which is why there’s been a lot of Maddison links.”
TIF Thoughts on James Maddison and Spurs…
As per Transfermarkt, Maddison is indeed a CAA Base client, and they also represent the likes of current stars Son Heung-min and Richarlison, as well as touted target Porro.
With that in mind, it does seem as though Spurs already have a good connection to the Leicester City player should they be keen on getting a deal done during the upcoming transfer market.
However, that same link also makes it easy for people to jump to conclusions about how close a possible switch to north London could actually be. For now, it seems best to wait and see if the Maddison links grow any stronger, with the winter window set to open at the start of next month.
And given Gold’s comments, we may be inclined to take any future rumours regarding Maddison and Spurs with an added pinch of salt.
Maddison’s future is only ‘up in the air’ because football journalists continually make up stories about him. The only way Leicester will let Maddison go in January is if Spurs, or any of the other super rich clubs, offer silly money (£80m+).
