Alasdair Gold has insisted he wants to see Oliver Skipp and Yves Bissouma start and get more minutes in their natural positions for Tottenham Hotspur.

Skipp burst onto her scene last season with Spurs under both Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte but saw his season pretty much cut short by an injury that just refused to go away and this season hasn’t been much better with just two league starts to his name.

Bissouma on the other hand has had to bide his time since joining Spurs in the summer as until October he’d started just three matches in the league, but since the Manchester United defeat, he’s started four of the last five games.

Neither have consistently played Conte this season or even when they have, not in their natural position, something Gold has admitted he wants to see change.

He said on his YouTube channel: (37:40) “Good to see Bissouma getting forward [in a friendly against Peterborough] good to see he’s trying to show that attacking side to his game because I really want him and Skipp to be used in that way, instead of the way they have been used, that would be awesome, Skippy as well getting more minutes in the bank.”

Will Spurs finish inside the top four?

TIF Thoughts on Skipp and Bissouma’s roles…

For Bissouma especially it’s interesting that Gold spoke about his attacking side of the game as quite often this season Conte has deployed the summer signing as a defensive midfielder, which doesn’t appear to be his strongest position, going by what Gold has said above.

Skipp will be hopeful that the second half of the season can see him earn more minutes in the league and that will likely be the case because of how hectic the schedule is going to get given the winter break all clubs have just experienced.

Tottenham-Hotspur's-Richarlison-reacts

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

Therefore, having two players who can offer some creativity in the final third and help unlock defences via a pass or dribbling could be a tool Conte looks to use more often in the second half of the season.
