Tottenham Hotspur have a growing interest in James Maddison ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

This has been suggested by transfer guru Ben Jacobs, who has been speaking on the Saeed TV YouTube channel to discuss the latest transfer news.

There has been a lot of recent transfer speculation surrounding the 26-year-old Leicester City midfielder, who was the subject of two reported bids from Newcastle United in the summer.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

However, he remained a Leicester player with the Magpies unwilling to match the Foxes’ believed valuation of £60m.

Meanwhile, there has been reported interest coming from north London, with Maddison believed to be in search of a move which would bring him Champions League football.

He said: “Newcastle want Maddison; very loosely, there’s a growing interest from Tottenham. But both of those clubs can’t tell Maddison now what he’s going to get.

“If Maddison waits until the end of the season and is Leicester’s player of the season, Leicester get good money should he not sign – and I want to reiterate that Leicester would love Maddison to sign [a new deal].

“If Maddison negotiates with Spurs and Newcastle in the summer, 1) he knows which one, if any, has got Champions League football, and 2) he’s able to ask for Champions League wages and a lot more, because those clubs will have more money to spend should they get Champions League football.”

TIF Thoughts on Jacobs’ comments…

With the January window on the horizon, it does feel as if a £60m move for the Englishman is a bit optimistic, with January typically a window of opportunity rather than for big moves.

Would you like Maddison at Spurs?

Having already broken their transfer record in the summer with their swoop for Richarlison, it is difficult to imagine Spurs making another huge move just a matter of months on.

However, we do think it would be a move that could massively benefit Antonio Conte’s side.

Maddison, who has been hailed as a ‘frightening‘ player, has made another bright start to the 2022/23 campaign, where he has already returned 11 goal involvements in just 13 Premier League appearances (via Transfermarkt).

And with Newcastle still said to be interested, it does seem Fabio Paratici would be faced with some serious competition from the world’s richest club.
