Fabrizio Romano has claimed it would take a huge bid for Inter Milan to consider selling Tottenham Hotspur target Denzel Dumfries who is happy in Milan.

Dumfries has caught the eye for his performances in the World Cup as he scored and assisted twice in the Netherlands’ 3-1 win over the USA in the last 16.

The Inter Milan wing-back has taken his club form into Qatar with him registering five goal contributions from the right-hand side already this season.

It was reported last week by 90min that Spurs have enquired about the 26-year-old’s availability, with Romano now giving an update on the Nerazzurri’s stance.

(2:15) “Let’s see what happens now because he’s been amazing with the Netherlands at the World Cup, scoring goals and providing assists, but now is about the price as Inter are not open to selling Dumfries for €25m-€35m (£21.5m-£30m), they want way more than this, and also the player is really happy in Milan.

“So to see a change for Dumfries in January a really huge bid is needed and at the moment the situation is still quiet,” Romano said.

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

It’s unsurprising to hear Inter’s stance is a harsh one on Spurs’ ambitions to bring the Dutchman to north London in January with Dumfries appearing in the fourth-highest number of games this season for Simone Inzaghi.

But it’s a deal that Spurs must push for with their current options at right wing-back set to be reduced in January with at least one of Djed Spence or Matt Doherty expected to leave due to a lack of game time, along with Emerson Royal looking far from reliable.

The 26-year-old would completely revolutionise Antonio Conte’s right-hand side with him in the top 3% for progressive passes received and top 1% for expected goals plus expected assists with 4.55 and 0.42 per 90 respectively, via FBref.

His attacking threat and output are levels about that of Emerson who has only managed 4.10 progressive passes received and 0.21 expected goals plus expected assists.
