Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has picked up a potential injury issue during Wales’ final World Cup game against England on Tuesday.

This has been suggested by the reliable Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold who has been speaking on his latest YouTube video about the 29-year-old.

A number of Spurs players are now likely to be heading back to London following World Cup disappointment with their national sides and one of them is set to be Davies.

However, he may be returning to Hotspur Way with an injury concern having come off after just 59 minutes having gone down on the pitch.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

Players have already returned to training in north London following a short break and it seems Gold does have some concerns surrounding the fitness of the Welshman:

(19:20) “As for the Welsh Spurs players in the Wales side, obviously Ben Davies looked like he picked up an injury, well he did pick up an injury and to come off towards the end so hopefully nothing serious.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

It would certainly be far from ideal for Antonio Conte to see one of his regular starters come back with an injury ahead of the busy festive schedule.

Does Ben Davies need upgrading?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Davies has become a big part of the Italian’s starting XI having made 52 appearances under Conte since he arrived late last year (via Transfermarkt).

And as the fixtures will pick up quickly after Christmas, it would leave Spurs’ options slightly stretched with only Clement Lenglet really able to cover the left-sided centre-back spot.

If it is a serious setback which Davies has picked up, it could only strengthen Conte’s reported desire to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window.
