Pundit and ex-pro, Darren Ambrose has urged Tottenham Hotspur to go ‘all out’ for RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol.

Speaking on TalkSport, Ambrose was blown away by the defender, labelling him as ‘a sensation’ for Croatia at the World Cup.

The European side made it all the way to the semi-finals of the tournament, where they were knocked out by Argentina.

Gvardiol caught the eyes of many at the World Cup, the Croatian was in the top 2% for clearances made in the tournament (FootyStats.org).

Journalist, Dean Jones told GiveMeSport, that the Spurs-linked player will ‘discuss all options’ with his agency very soon.

Ambrose stated (6:12), “I think he’s been a sensation and I look at where he plays in terms of centre-half and then I look at my team and Spurs what they need. They’ve got Romero but they need another centre-half. I’d be going all out to get this guy.”

TIF’s view on Ambrose’s comments…

We believe that Gvardiol would be an excellent addition to a number of sides, including Tottenham.

There will be a lot of competition for the player’s signature, now that his World Cup campaign has come to an end. According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have all made bids to sign the player.

The 20-year-old has been superb not just for his country, but at club level with RB Leipzig. Gvardiol has one of the best dribbling stats of any defender across Europe’s top five leagues, the Champions League and Europa League in the past year, he’s in the top 1% for dribbles completed (FBref).

Spurs’ Cristian Romero alongside Gvardiol would be a fantastic duo at the back, for many years. The Croatian’s ability on the ball and the Argentine’s ability to effectively win the ball back from opponents, it could be the perfect duo. Romero’s FBref stats show that he’s in the top 1% for tackles made by defenders.

Should Tottenham want to bring the defender to North London, they’ll have to cough up a very sizable fee. Gvardiol is supposedly said to be worth €100m (£86m).
