Journalist Dean Jones has said that Weston McKennie has been on the radar at Tottenham Hotspur although he may not be an immediate target.

Spurs were linked with the USA midfielder in the summer and amid his performances for America at the World Cup, those rumours have resurfaced.

According to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, the Lilywhites have initiated talks with the Juventus man’s representatives with the view to a potential switch to north London.

The outlet adds that both sporting director Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte are big admirers of the 24-year-old.

Speaking to This Is Futbol Jones said: “I think he’s having a good tournament so far and he is in the shop window.

“Spurs have had an eye on him in the past. I’m not sure he’s a prime target for them in this exact moment given what they need but there are other Premier League teams looking at him too and I think Juve probably will sell if a decent offer lands.”

TIF Thoughts on McKennie and Tottenham…

Should Spurs sign McKennie?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Credited by The Guardian for dominating in midfield against England last Friday the £49k-per-week gem could be a worthwhile option for Spurs.

He is thought to be available for around £25m and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said that McKennie could well be a player that Juventus lose in January.

The Serie A giants are in a spat of bother financially it would seem at this moment in time and that could well help potential suitors like the north Londoners who have expressed an interest in their talent.

Given Conte and Paratici’s connection to the club, it could also make a deal easier should they decide to add another midfielder.
