Journalist Carlo Garganese has said that Weston McKennie is ‘disposable’ and could well end up at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Italian journalist was speaking amid reports linking the Lilywhites with a move for the midfielder.

Spurs were reportedly interested in the Juventus dynamo in the summer and now while he represents the USA at the World Cup those claims have resurfaced.

According to Tuttosport, Tottenham have opened talks with the 24-year-old’s representatives ahead of a potential move.

Calciomercato, meanwhile, say that his Turin employers will accept offers in the region of £26m but suggests that the Serie A club are more likely to sell at the end of the campaign as opposed to in the January window.

Nevertheless, Garganese is of the impression that Fabio Paratici could well cut a deal given his previous business with the Bianconeri.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “McKennie is somebody that they see as disposable, he’s not hugely popular with the fans either so he’s definitely someone that’s gettable.

“Of course, Paratici signed Kulusevski, he signed Bentancur, they’ve done business together so it’s definitely something that could make sense.“

TIF Thoughts on McKennie and Tottenham…

Should Spurs sign McKennie?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Indeed in his first transfer window, last winter Antonio Conte raided his former side to sign Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur who have since become major players in the Spurs side.

Incredibly underrated’ according to Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, McKennie would be another option in midfield for the 53-year-old coach who also has Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Yves Bissouma, and Oliver Skipp to choose from.

The Texas-born enforcer ranks in the top 7% of midfielders across Europe’s big five leagues for progressive passes received and the top 6% for touches in the opposition’s box (Fbref) which suggests that he could bring another dimension to the engine room.

Given the success of the duo who arrived from the Allianz Stadium before him, McKennie could well be a shrewd investment from Spurs and £26m certainly seems like value for money.
