Newcastle United ace Allan Saint-Maximin has claimed that he really feels ‘at home’ at the club.
Saint-Maximin has been one of the side’s star players ever since his initial £16.5m switch from Nice in the summer of 2019.
He has made just over 100 appearances during his time scoring 13 goals and providing 19 assists.
Before the PIF takeover last November, the 25-year-old seemed like a big fish in a small pond with former Toon ace Rob Lee dubbing him “unplayable.”
There was some suggestion that Newcastle would have listened to offers for the Frenchman in the summer but it seems like his perfectly content on Tyneside.
Speaking to the Chronicle he discussed the newfound ambition at the club and said: “It’s very nice, it’s like finding your first house.
“It’s when you have found a very nice house and you know what you are going to build. You start to see the potential there and you are like ‘wow – this is huge’. That is a great example because I really feel at home here.
“This is a different place now. There are a lot of beautiful houses in the world now but there are some houses where you put your feet and think ‘Here is my home’.
“It’s the feeling I have in Newcastle. I am very proud because sometimes when you start and everything isn’t perfect, when you work very hard you start to see everything change. Especially when you have the choice to go to another club. You just say no I will believe until the end at this club.
“I want to give back the love they give me. You think it’s great – anything can happen now, and I will always be a Newcastle fan, I love the club so much.”
TIF Thoughts on Saint-Maximin and Newcastle…
Will Saint-Maximin become an NUFC legend?
Yes!
No!
Having become such a fan favourite in the north-east, supporters will undoubtedly be glad to know of the £93k-per-week ace’s commitment to the club, especially amid links to a potential exit.
The winger has rarely featured since August as the result of a hamstring injury but it was instrumental in the club’s superb start to the campaign.
Against Manchester City he stole the show, providing two assists and winning the free-kick that Kieran Trippier successfully dispatched while also scoring a late equaliser before hobbling off against Wolves.
Fans will be eager to see him back in full flow when the Premier League resumes and it seems as if he will be sticking around which will be music to their ears.
