Fabrizio Romano has insisted that Dusan Vlahovic is unlikely to move in January, despite Newcastle United being spoken about as a potential destination.

The Serbian striker was hot property almost 12 months ago when a number of clubs were tipped with signing him, and while Juventus eventually landed the striker, his future is once again up for discussion – and Newcastle have been spoken about as a possible buyer by journalist Dean Jones.

The transfer guru recently spoke to GiveMeSport about how Vlahovic has to be someone that Newcastle look to target if they want to make the next step up, and with Juventus’ current off-field problems, that may yet have been a possibility.

Meanwhile, Italian outlet CalcioMercatoWeb (via TEAMtalk) has claimed the Toon have their eye on the striker.

However, Romano has now admitted on the House of Champions YouTube channel that Vlahovic is very unlikely to leave Juventus in January.

Should Newcastle sign Vlahovic?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

He said: “I don’t see big names like Dusan Vlahovic or these kinds of players leaving in January. I think Juventus will try to keep the same squad until the end of the season, and then they hope to be in the Champions League and so to be able to change the squad in the summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Dusan Vlahovic…

If Newcastle were able to prise Vlahovic away from Juventus in January or even in the summer, that would be a major sign of intent. But considering they just splashed out £63m on Alexander Isak in the summer, we think another big-money move for a striker would be unlikely, although the fact he’s been labelled as an ‘extraordinary player‘ shows how highly rated he is.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Also, the fact that Eddie Howe trusts in Callum Wilson wholeheartedly, bringing in yet another striker that would be demanding to start would not make much sense, especially given Wilson was only handed a new contract a few months ago.

While Jones stopped short of insisting Newcastle were looking to sign Vlahovic, he did namecheck the striker as someone the club need to target, which would suggest that he may have heard the player being mentioned on a transfer shortlist.
