Aaron Stokes has claimed he’s heard Ryan Fraser could be keen on a Newcastle United exit and moving down south.
The winger has not had the best of times on Tyneside since joining as a free agent in the summer of 2020 starting just 30 league games and has picked up numerous injuries which have hampered his career.
Even following the arrival of his former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, Fraser has been unable to recapture his form from down on the south coast which convinced Newcatsle to sign him as a free agent.
Stokes has now revealed on the Everything is Black and White podcast that he’s heard a few things about Fraser looking for an exit that could see him relocate further down the country.
(41:30) “I think Ryan Fraser, you know I’ve heard rumblings that there is potentially the desire to go back down south. A lot of his family moved up when he came to Newcastle and a lot of them stayed down there or moved back down there and I think that would probably be a move that appeals to him.

“There’s probably a couple of Premier League clubs down there such as Southampton and Brighton that would like to register their interest in January, so I think Fraser could be one to go.”
TIF Thoughts on Fraser’s future…
Fraser’s career with Newcastle certainly hasn’t gone to plan for either the club or the player with the winger himself registering just nine goal involvements in the Premier League while picking up a reported £41,800 per week.
The Scotland international, who was hailed as ‘superb’ by Alan Shearer, has clearly fallen down the pecking order this season under Howe given the form of Miguel Almiron and the arrival of Alexander Isak so a January departure could well be a realistic option.
Newcastle would likely take a loan with an option to buy deal if it meant getting the majority of his wages off their books and also, allowing them to bring in a replacement that would be an upgrade on Fraser.
