Journalist, Ryan Taylor has given his verdict on why Champions League qualification will be a ‘golden opportunity’ for Newcastle United.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Taylor labelled the prospect as a ‘game changer’ for financial revenue and attracting high-profile players.

Newcastle currently sit in third in the Premier League and boasts the joint-best defensive record in the division, alongside Arsenal.

It’s been a season that not even the most optimistic fan would’ve expected. At this point in the season last year, the Magpies were second-bottom on 10 points. It’s safe to say that a lot has changed in the space of one calendar year.

Taylor stated, “Newcastle are not going to have any better time in the past 15 years to get into the top four. Champions League qualification is such a game changer in terms of financial revenue and attracting players. This is Newcastle’s golden opportunity to put themselves back amongst the big boys.”

TIF’s view on Taylor’s comments…

We believe that Newcastle are on the horizon of a very exciting and successful future.

The Magpies have already been able to attract some top-level players, including the likes of Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman.

Guimaraes is currently loving life at the club. He stated that he made the ‘right decision’ when agreeing to join the club.

Should they attain Champions League football next season, you’d suspect that more and more players would be attracted to the idea of making the move to Tyneside.

Furthermore, the Magpies play very attacking football, so any player that joins them knows they’ll be part of a team that scores goals for fun. Newcastle have scored 29 league goals, only Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have a higher tally.

Upcoming transfer windows in the near future could well see some world-class talent arrive at Newcastle United. The Toon haven’t featured in the Champions League since the 2002/03 campaign, 20 years of waiting may finally about to be coming to an end.
