Journalist Dean Jones has given an insight into the future of Eddie Howe at Newcastle, with the Saudi-based owners set to give him an extended chance to build his own team amid talk of Jurgen Klopp’s admiration.
Howe arrived at the club shortly after PIF completed a takeover to replace Mike Ashley as owners last year, and has since enjoyed a remarkable rise which now sees the Magpies third place in the Premier League.
There has been significant investment in the squad, with stars such as Alexander Isak, Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes arriving within the last 12 months, but the former Bournemouth manager has also done a superb job with the players he inherited, with the likes of Joelinton and Joe Willock vastly improving under his coaching.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones claimed that the owners will give Howe a fair chance, rather than moving for a big-name manager such as Jurgen Klopp.
“From what I hear, Newcastle are going to give Eddie Howe his chance to take this team as far as he can. I think he deserves that, and every message I’m getting is that is going to be the case,” Jones stated.
“So I would say we’ve got here at least 18 months of Eddie Howe at the helm trying to achieve everything he can for Newcastle. If he can’t, if that’s the point in which they change, then they’re going to go for a world-class manager. And that’s when you consider, is it going to be somebody like Jurgen Klopp?”
TIF thoughts on Howe and Newcastle…
We think the owners would be crazy to even consider replacing Howe right now considering the remarkable turnaround he has helped orchestrate in such a short space of time.
Newcastle were 19th in the Premier League table when he arrived. Fast forward a year and they’re third, with just one league defeat this season.
They have beaten the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, whilst also drawing with Manchester City this season, showing that they are already capable of competing with the established top-six teams.
Given their financial firepower, should Howe take Newcastle back to Europe, we don’t think they would even need a bigger name manager to attract Europe’s top talent with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes proving that to be the case.
