Journalist Lee Ryder has revealed that Miguel Almiron is now loving life at Newcastle United – especially off the pitch.

Almiron has been the story of the Premier League season thus far, having gone from a winger that was publicly mocked by Jack Grealish to winning October’s Player of the Month award and thriving on Tyneside.

Prior to this season, Almiron had scored just nine goals in the Premier League, but he already has eight to his name this time around – and it appears that he’s now enjoying life both on and off the pitch with the Magpies.

That is according to Ryder, who spoke about Almiron on the Everything is Black and White podcast and revealed what the winger spoke to him about in a recent chat.

He said: “I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to sit down and do an interview with him a couple of weeks ago, and we haven’t really spoken to him a lot because of the lockdown and things like that.

Has Almiron been Newcastle's POTS so far?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“I just thought he was such a down-to-earth character, and he’s not going to be one of these that gives it the big one on social media, he doesn’t want to be one of these players who’s letting his mouth go all the time, he just wants to get his head down and play for Newcastle United and do well.

“Then off the field, I spoke to him and he was talking about how he enjoys taking his little boy to the park and just things like that, he’s a real family man and I just think he’s a good character to have.”

TIF Thoughts on Almiron…

The Paraguay international has been one of the most in-form attackers in the league this season with eight goals and one assist to his name, but with this winter break, all eyes will be on him to see if it was just a purple patch or whether this is the new Almiron.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

With Almiron seemingly now loving life off the pitch it’s potentially no surprise that he’s now playing with freedom and a smile on his face at St James’ Park, knowing that he and his family are settled on Tyneside – especially after he was linked with a potential exit in the summer.

Almiron has recently been nominated for The Chronicle’s Player of The Year award for 2022, which takes into account both on and off-the-field actions and given the turnaround of the winger’s form that will have come as no surprise.
