Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has revealed there is no timescale on Jadon Sancho’s return to Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag has said he has no idea when Sancho will be ready for first-team duties again, with Sheth confirming it is unclear as to when he is set to make his United comeback.

Sancho has been training away from the club in the Netherlands after not being selected in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad after a huge dip in form, despite a promising start to the campaign.

The 22-year-old is reportedly suffering from physical and mental fitness issues and will continue his work away from the club for the foreseeable future, with Sheth confirming he is still some way off peak fitness.

He said: “No timescale on when he is going to return.

“What I have been told is that United continue to work with Jadon Sancho to get him back on the pitch as quickly as possible, and I’m told that he’s got the full support of the club to get into that peak condition both physically and mentally.”

“This time next week, Manchester United face Burnley in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup. It’s very unlikely that Sancho will be involved in that.”

TIF Thoughts on Sheth’s comments…

Sancho began the season promisingly at Old Trafford with him netting three times in the opening seven games, including a winner against Leicester City and the opener in United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool.

But he didn’t feature for the Red Devils in their five games prior to the World Cup, with two unused sub appearances being followed by injury, and it now seems that his current situation is the reason he didn’t play during the World Cup run-in.

The Englishman finally joined United last summer for £73m following months of rumours that United would close out a deal, however, he hasn’t lived up to the billing thus far with only eight goals and four assists in 52 games since he arrived.

United are being sensible by allowing their prized asset to leave the spotlight and continue his work to hopefully see him hit the form he had at Borussia Dortmun, and with Ten Hag’s side engulfed in a Champions League battle, they’ll want him in top shape for the run-in and beyond with him still only 22 years old.
