Journalist Josh Bunting has slammed Manchester United winger Antony after his poor performance in the club’s most recent game.

Earlier this week, the Red Devils finally got back to action in the Premier League as they picked up all three points in an impressive 3-0 victory at home.

Goals from Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred gave United the win over Nottingham Forest. However, despite the easy game, it seems as though not everybody on the team was quite pulling their weight.

Indeed, according to Bunting, Manchester United forward Antony wasn’t working hard enough and failed to show the right sort of attitude that would be expected of a senior star.

The journalist wrote on Twitter: “Antony isn’t displaying the attitude you’d expect from a Manchester United player, he’s got to work harder. He’s got the skill, but his attitude is letting him down, and with a certain young man waiting in the wings in Alejandro Garnacho, he needs to be very careful.”

TIF Thoughts on Antony and Manchester United…

The Red Devils spent a whopping £85m on the Brazilian as he arrived from Ajax in the summer, and he has certainly shown glimpses of his quality for the club so far, scoring three goals in his first three Premier League games.

However, he has not scored in the division since and is yet to deliver a goal or an assist across five starts in the Europa League – while against Forest, his poor display was noted elsewhere in the media.

For instance, in the Manchester Evening News, he was handed a 4/10 match rating by journalist Samuel Luckhurst and slammed for being ‘wasteful with the ball time and again’. Notably, he was subbed for Alejandro Garnacho in the 65th minute.

Evidently, it wasn’t a good day for Antony, and when things aren’t going right, you can at least work hard off the ball. In the eyes of Bunting, at least, he failed to even manage that.
