Manchester United’s Casemiro has admitted that he was ‘surprised’ at the ‘passion’ shown by the supporters, when talking to the club’s website

The Brazilian joined in the summer from Real Madrid, costing the club around £70 million. So far this season, he’s proven to be one of the top-performing players for the Red Devils. Casemiro is Man United’s second highest-rated player based on average ratings via Sofascore, with a rating of 7.18.

Currently, the 30-year-old is away at the World Cup with Brazil. He’s played all of the group-stage matches for the South American side so far. Casemiro scored in a 1-0 win over Switzerland, securing them a spot in the Round of 16.

Casemiro has been blown away by the fans since his arrival, both home and away. He said: “But one of the things that has surprised me the most over here has been the supporters. The passion that they have for the game and how they really live for their football.

“When the weekend comes around, how the fans just live off their football. How the fans just exude football, and you can see that football is their passion and that football is their life.

“So it’s not just here at Old Trafford for the home games, but away from home too, wow, the fans are just incredible,” he enthused. “The supporters, the atmosphere, the way the fans get behind us, just fantastic, and one of the things that has surprised me the most since coming to England.

“But you cannot want for anything more from our fans, and what’s more, you have to thank them for the way they support us and I have never seen anything like that before.”

TIF’s view on Casemiro’s comments….

It says a lot about the United fan base, that a player of Casemiro’s pedigree is blown away by it. This is a man who has played for the likes of Real Madrid, Porto and Sao Paulo.

There’s definitely a better mood around Old Trafford, manager Erik ten Hag has generated a lot of buzz when first he arrived after winning multiple domestic trophies in the Netherlands.

The Red Devils currently sit fifth in the Premier League, but they’re on the up, losing only one of their last five matches.

Casemiro has certainly played his part in the middle of the park for Man United. He’s in the top 1% for aerial duals won and blocks, the top 3% for clearances and the top 7% for tackles (FBref). Demonstrating he’s a battling and determined midfielder.

Thus far, Casemiro has looked the part in ten Hag’s midfield, if he continues his form, he could prove to be one of Man United’s essential players.
