Presenter Joe Wainman has been left delighted by the Pascal Struijk contract news coming out of Leeds United.

On Thursday, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano shared the news that Leeds have come to an agreement with the Dutch defender over a new contract.

Taking to Twitter, the Italian journalist shared how the papers have been drawn up for Struijk to sign an improved deal that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The 23-year-old has started all but one of the Whites’ 14 league games, that being the trip he missed to Leicester City.

Considering his current deal expires at the end of next season the club would have been left with a difficult situation to ponder had he run into the final 12 months of his contract.

Reacting to the update Wainman was certainly pleased as he tweeted: ‘Love to see it!’

Having come through Ajax’s U19s, the 6ft 3in centre-back has shown his capabilities this season under Jesse Marsch.

According to WhoScored, he is the American coach’s highest-performing player with an average match rating of 7.04.

He has slotted in seamlessly at left-back with Stuart Dallas injured and Junior Firpo and that versatility has been a godsend at times since he signed as a teenager almost five years ago.

Former Whites hotshot Noel Whelan has described him as a “very important” member of the side and tying Struijk down seems like a very smart piece of business by the club.
