Journalist Pete O’Rourke believes that Leeds United would be bringing in an ‘exciting’ attacker should Pedro arrive at the club.

The striker is currently at the World Cup as part of Brazil’s 26-man squad although he is yet to feature in the tournament.

Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports has previously said that Leeds hold a long-term interest in the Flamengo centre-forward.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 25-year-old was a target at Elland Road in the summer while Coluna Do Fla have reported that the Whites still have intentions to sign the frontman.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT O’Rourke said:

“He’s a really exciting player, if a move was to happen for him, he’s got to be a good player to be in that star-studded Brazil squad to be fair.

“He’s not had that many minutes at the World Cup but he’s a really highly-rated forward, his goal-scoring record stands up as well, he’s scored goals for Flamengo in the Brazilian league and also in the Copa Libertadores. He’s playing at a good high level and I think he’s at a good age as well. So if Leeds were able to lure him to the Premier League, it would be an exciting addition to their forward line.“

Would Pedro be an improvement on Rodrigo?

Labelled an ‘excellent finisher’ by BBC commentator Guy Mowbray, the three-cap ace has scored 29 goals in 59 appearances throughout 2022.

The talismanic forward has averaged a direct goal involvement once every 96.5 minutes during his time at Flamengo netting 61 times and providing a further 17 assists in 149 games for the club.

Whether he could adapt to the English is unknown but considering Patrick Bamford’s lack of form over the past 18 months, Pedro could be a prime candidate to replenish the Englishman’s 45-goal output from throughout his time in west Yorkshire.
