Jack Harrison has been criticised for his poor showing as Leeds United took part in a friendly during the tour of Spain on Thursday evening.

They recorded a 2-1 win against La Liga’s basement club Elche in the first of three games during their trip.

The Spanish side’s annual Festa d’Elx trophy was on the line and a late strike from Mateusz Klich saw Jesse Marsch’s side emerge victorious.

Harrison was in from the start after not being in the squad for Leeds’ final game prior to the mid-season break against Tottenham.

Whether it was a lack of match sharpness or rustiness, either way he wasn’t at the races on the night with journalist Graham Smyth giving him just a 4/10 match rating.

Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post he said: ‘Very little impact or notable involvement before going off on the hour mark.’

The left-winger has been one of Marsch’s most used players this season ranking seventh among outfield players for minutes player (WhoScored) and he is tied alongside Illan Meslier for man of the match awards at the club (2) this season.

Only Raphinha scored more goals than the 26-year-old last season but Harrison has only managed to find the back of the net on one occasion this time around.

After a rampaging start to the campaign with four direct goal involvements in three matches, he has since gone 10 games without registering a goal or an assist.

He never looked like threatening that barren run against Elche but supporters will be hoping he can rediscover his form in time for the Premier League’s return.
