TalkSport commentator Nigel Adderley has raved about ‘magnificent’ Morocco and Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat and has expressed his desire to see him at Liverpool.

Speaking on the Blood Red podcast, Adderley could only imagine a Liverpool midfield containing Amrabat and Jude Bellingham – who has been heavily linked with the Reds.

Amrabat has impressed during Morocco’s World Cup campaign as they went all the way to the semi-finals before being knocked out by France.

Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg stated a few days ago that the club are in ‘talks’ with Fiorentina. However, the Italian side don’t want to sell him in the winter.

Amrabat’s agent has admitted that he’s received a lot of phone calls recently regarding his client’s services, but they respect the fact the player is still contracted to the Serie A outfit.

Adderley, however, would love to see the Moroccan at Anfield.

He said: “He has been magnificent here for Morocco, he has been a driving force. So much energy for them throughout this tournament and he’s been the heartbeat of the team.

“And if you could, maybe for a second, imagine a midfield of Bellingham and Amrabat at some stage, that would be something moving forward for any team, and I think that he is going to be heading to a very big club and I think that he is a classic World Cup shop-window player, but he could justify it on his performances so far.”

TIF Thoughts on Adderley’s comments about Amrabat…

We believe that Amrabat would be a fantastic addition to a number of sides, including Liverpool.

Throughout the past year, the Moroccan has proven to be an extremely efficient passer of the ball and someone who’s willing to do anything to stop opposition players.

He ranks in the top 4% across Europe’s top competitions for completed passes and progressive passes received. In addition, the 26-year-old is in the top 9% for blocks made (as per FBref).

However, the Reds will face some competition for his services. Calciomercato has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing Amrabat.

We think the midfield is an area that Liverpool need to address, as they have three players in that position over the age of 30.

On top of that, the injury-prone Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita both have deals that end in the summer, so their times at Anfield could be coming to an end.

Amrabat is 26 years old, meaning he would have plenty of time to operate in the Liverpool midfield, and if he could be brought in along with others to rejuvenate their options in the middle of the park, having refreshed options could see Jurgen Klopp’s side overcome their indifferent start to this season.
