Journalist Beren Cross has slammed Rasmus Kristensen for his role in the second goal Leeds United conceded in last night’s friendly.

Leeds took part in their last mid-season clash before the Premier League kicks off again next week as they welcomed Ligue 1 side AS Monaco to Elland Road, and it started off well for Jesse Marsch’s side, who raced into a 1-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes.

However, that was all very short-lived as they ended up shipping four goals, which won’t have filled anyone with confidence heading into their game against Manchester City – especially if Kristensen puts in another poor display.

Cross handed the Danish defender a 6/10 rating for his performance and highlighted his role in Monaco’s second goal, which put them in the lead soon after the restart.

On Kristensen, he said: “Some promising crosses and shots in the first half, but one of those whose presence faded after the break. Cannot have been happy with the attack down his flank which resulted in Gelson Martins’s goal.”

TIF Thoughts on Kristensen…

The Denmark international was signed for £10m over the summer, but it hasn’t quite worked out smoothly for Kristensen, who has struggled to fully adapt to Premier League football, as has been highlighted by Phil Hay earlier in the year.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

However, despite his poor display against Monaco and amid his struggle to fully settle, Marsch has very few alternatives in his position, so the American manager will just be hoping Kristensen can find his feet and some form sooner rather than later.

Leeds couldn’t have asked for a more difficult start to the league’s restart as they welcome Man City to Elland Road, so not many will be holding out much hope for Kristensen putting in anything more than the 6/10 display he showed last night.
