Phil Hay has confirmed that Leeds United ace Mateusz Klich is indeed wanted by MLS side DC United, who’ve offered him a long-term deal.

Jesse Marsch has recently spoken about Klich and the links surrounding the Poland international, but the American boss gave nothing away and even suggested that the club may have to be selfish, hinting at them blocking a possible exit.

That would perhaps be harsh on Klich given that he’s been an admirable servant for the club over the years, helping them get promoted back into the Premier League and now simply isn’t getting enough game time with just 199 league minutes handed to him thus far.

Despite Marsch not hinting at anything being imminent, Hay has indeed confirmed on The Phil Hay Show that there is interest from America in Klich.

He said: “They’re very keen, DC United, it’s a good offer as well, I think it would be a fairly long contract that would take him into his mid-30s and it’s a nice city, a new adventure.

Do you want Klich to leave in January?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“I wrote about Klich after the news about DC United came out and also after the game against Elche where Marsch sort of said afterwards, I’m not really in a position to say where this is going to go and was implying there was some doubt about whether Klich would stay because he hasn’t been playing too much this season.”

TIF Thoughts on Klich’s future…

It would be a disappointing way for things to end for Klich if he is indeed denied the chance to leave for a club that clearly wants him and is then forced to spend the rest of the season sitting on the bench and being handed cameo appearances in games.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Klich has been a regular for Leeds over the last few years starting 99 games since the start of the 2019/20 season, which was Leeds’ Championship winning campaign that saw them return to the Premier League for a very long time, so he will likely always be admired by the Leeds fans.

The beginning of the end may well have been witnessed last season for Klich when he and Marsch appeared to exchange heated words during a game last campaign which showed Klich not being very happy iht the American for one reason or another, so his potential imminent exit may well have been expected by many within the club.
