Phil Hay has issued an update on the fitness of injured Leeds United star Luis Sinisterra.
It’s been a frustrating time for Sinisterra since his £21 million transfer over the summer having now picked up two rather serious injuries since joining which have included a hamstring issue in pre-season before his most recent reason to spend time on the sidelines being a foot injury.
However, Sinisterra has made the most of his time on the pitch giving Leeds fans a taste of what they can expect from the Colombian winger when he can get fully fit having registered four goal involvements across all competitions.
Hay’s confirmed that despite having a prolonged period of time off due to the World Cup, Sinisterra still remains several weeks away from a first-team return, on The Phil Hay Show.

(3:30) “The injuries I think of note and the players who are definitely not going to be involved against [Manchester] City, Sinisterra, who has this foot problem affecting his metatarsal and was out for a little while before the World Cup break, he’s still going to be another couple of weeks, two or three weeks before he’s back in training but he seems to be getting there and they seem to be pretty happy with his progress.”

It will be a blow for Jesse Marsch to not have Sinisterra fit and ready, and even worse that he’s still multiple weeks away from being even considered for selection, mainly because of his talent but also because of the hefty price tag he demanded.
Even if Sinisterra, who is valued at £35 million (CIES), had been fit for Leeds’ next game, it’s very unlikely that it would have made much of a difference to the way they had been playing pre-World Cup break as they’d won two of their last three games.
Also, because they are set to welcome Premier League champions Manchester City to Elland Road, so the emphasis from Marsch to his Leeds players will likely be on keeping things tight and not being expansive going forward, with the latter being what Sinisterra thrives on given his position as an attacking winger.
